It is said in the Gita(religious book) that death is the destiny of this universe. The bodies dies but the souls remains alives. Just as we change clothes, the soul also changes the body.
All of you have ever thought that if the soul gives up the body then how can it get the punishment of the hell, because the soul is beyond every touch and feel. In fact, the knowledge of all of this is found in Garuda Purana.(a hindu scripture)
When someone dies, they seems a year like a second. Getting out of the body from the body is painful. For the creation of this genre, brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh (hindu gods who are the inventor of the univers) had composed the five elements.

This five elements are air, water, earth, body and soul. All these things have created our body and in finally gets into it. Once the soul abandons the body then it gets a divine sight which is found only in Gods so that they can see this universe or world as whole.
Garud Purana says that on coming out of the soul Yama Raj(god of death) appears, who is the brother of Shani Dev(god of saturn). Yamraj is dangerous and monstrous in look . On seeing the dangerous form of Yamraaj, the soul emerged out of the body ,made of five-elements, is turned into the body of "angooshthmatr" .angooshthmatr means the body with the size of the thumb, in the Hindu mythology, it is said that this is the part of the body in which Daksh Prajapati(adam and Eve)was born, which was one of the eleven producers who came out in the creation of this world. It has been written in the Hindu religion that the journey to make a life was started from 11 monks, but not from monkeys.
Now when the soul turns into a size of thumb , it is the work of guards of yamraj(god of death) to convert it into a torturous body. The torturous body is the soul of that body that can feel and experience the pain given by the Hell. Such is the practice of the soul that changes when traveling in the hell. Some people think that how a soul can experience suffering, but according to Garuda Purana, the soul first changes from the physical body to the torturous body(angooshthmatre shareer). The soul get freed after getting all its punishment against what it did in physical world or according to karma.
During the journey of Yamalog(hell), the phantom in the hell gets food given by their family, that is done in hindu religion during funeral,and blesses them by taking a resolution not to return back. That is why it is the responsibility of the son or even the family members to donate something to that body.(as described in hindu customs)
People of some new generation will not believe in this, but the punishment of hell produces fear of not committing any sin and protecting a person from sins is Hindu( indians) religion.
Every person should read Garuda Purana(the scripture that describes the death) before committing any sin.
